Product Description
Fibreglass, (also called fiberglass and glass fibre), is material made from extremely fine fibers of glass. It is used as a reinforcing agent for many polymer products; the resulting composite material, properly known as fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) or glass-reinforced plastic (GRP), is called "fibreglass" in popular usage. Glassmakers throughout history have experimented with glass fibers, but mass manufacture of fiberglass was only made possible with the invention of finer machine tooling.
Although other grades of chopped strand mat are available we recommend either 2 layers of 450gm or 1 layer of 600gm. If you are looking for other grades the check out our full fibreglass range. Some roofers will also use a surface tissue in conjunction with the glassfibre to add an extra surface finish.
All our glassfibre fabrics are made to a very high standard, and have all passed Lloyds Approval. The Lloyd’s Register Group is one of the world leaders in assessing business processes and products to internationally recognised standards. The standards are either those of major independent bodies or ones that we Lloyds developed themselves. Certificates can be supplied upon request.
